Biography

Born Nancy Breen on August 16, 1932 in Cohasset, Mass. She moved to California and married Michael Pochna and had 3 children, Kathy, Mitch and Casey. She met the love of her life in 1975, Bill "the Fox" Foster. They laughed and traveled and had many great adventures all over the country and world for 30 some odd years until his passing in 2001. She had been a teacher for much of her life until meeting Bill and began working in and managing his bar, The Fox Inn and as acting as his agent. She booked gigs all over the country and the world. She also moonlighted as a real estate agent during the same time. She loved life, having fun, playing tennis, but most of all she loved people and getting to know people from all walks of life. She spent much of the later part of her life in Lake Tahoe after Santa Monica, until a cancer diagnosis of a non-curable cancer in 2010. She fought a valiant struggle for the next 6 years doing chemotherapy, assisted by her 2 daughters caring for her and almost daily calls from her son in another part of the state. She had many surrogate children that she adopted over a lifespan and will be greatly missed by many, but mostly she will be remembered for her loving heart and joyful adventurous spirit. Even in the midst of her hardest struggles, I could hear her change the subject and ask how everything was in her friends' lives. While in hospice and saying good-bye to many friends via the phone, she said quite often, "I lived a good life". Please share a memory or condolences in the guest book or light a virtual candle, or virtual flowers. You can upload any photos you have or ask Casey if you want a digital copy of any photos shared. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Nancy Grade Tennis Scholarship Fund, to be started for supporting low income students at Ukiah High School purchase tennis racquets and other equipment to play.(There is a music setting on the top right of this page, turn on or off)
